Out Run – QE: Docs4Pirde
Out Run follows Bemz Benedito, a former leader of the world’s only LGBTQ+ political party Ladlad, in her historic quest to become the first transgender woman elected to the Philippine Congress in 2010 and 2013. Bemz and her campaign team face a massive challenge in pushing voters beyond firmly-held stereotypes as they take their campaign to local hair salons and small-town beauty pageants. Their grassroots efforts mobilise working-class LGBTQ+ allies in joining their task force, as they fighting against a homophobic opponent. The film documents Ladlad’s journey of rallying LGBTQ+ representation, and provides a unique look into how queer communities transition into the mainstream.
