TAIPEILOVE* is a documentary about the perception of homosexuality in Taiwanese society during the island’s crucial moments in becoming the first country in Asia to legalise same-sex marriage. German-Chinese director Lucie Liu follows three protagonists, Sarah, Kevin and David, who share intimate stories of finding their place in society, and navigating hardships such as coming out, negative familial reactions, abandonment and finding love. The film also features interviews with key activists, lawmakers and experts who have been fighting for marriage equality for decades. The film is a vivid and important portrait of the ongoing struggles and shifting social attitudes towards LGBTQ+ equality in Asia.
