This short documentary follows Agyip, a 19-year-old who works as a hotel receptionist by day, but blooms into his drag alter ego ‘Violet Katy’ at night. Together with his friend, they are determined to live life as their true selves, despite the societal pressures they face.
Director Bio
From Kyaukme, Myanmar’s Northern Shan State, Sai Nyi Min Htut was an LGBTQ+ rights activist and writer before he joined Yangon Film School in 2020, a non-profit organisation providing media training. Boy Queen is Sai Nyi Min Htut’s directorial debut and a school project on which he collaborated with his fellow students.
