Plotholes and Detours brings together works from Turkey and its diasporas, where narration is never singular, stable, or safe. Across satire, suspense, and essayistic drift, these films expose how “straight” narrative demands coherence and a single speaking position. Here, narration is outsourced to puppets and mountains, to competing text and sound, to mythic voices and testimonial fragments.. A Faustian bargain, a mother’s address, a lake monster’s afterlife, and an unsolicited gift that rearranges a home: voice slips between registers, leaving us unsure who speaks, who translates, who ventriloquizes. Political and intimate scenes mirror one another; state contracts echo lovers’ negotiations; public pedagogy folds into suspense. The puncture becomes the programme’s method of address.
The screening will be followed by a performance by Kübra Uzun and Akış Ka and a discussion with Istanbul Queer Art Collective.
