Shibari (the Japanese art of rope bondage) has often been described as a language – with ropes, bodies and breath instead of words. However, it is often hard to let go of verbal communication when it comes to safety and consent. In this workshop, hua hua will guide you on the language of rope exploring how to create a dialogue, build tension and express our desires.
hua hua is a Shibari artist, dominatrix, filmmaker and founder of Borderline Productions. For her, Shibari is a space to explore our innermost desires with authenticity and mindfulness, and that ropes can create bonds beyond cultural, linguistic or social barriers. Her teaching style is more holistic than systematic, focusing on a slow pacing to encourage a more intentional practice and appreciation of small details.
