In Sipping Dreams [小酌一夢] (2023), participants receive a cocktail crafted from their responses to a questionnaire about their recent dream and sleep patterns. With their cocktail in hand, participants are invited to mingle with others, allowing their dream — along with the memories, affects, and desires they carry — to be tasted collectively.
Sipping Dreams rejects the idea that dreams are symbolic texts to be decoded to reveal hidden desires. Instead, dreams are treated as ingredients to be mixed, tasted and shared. This reframes not only dreams but also appetite itself as an expression of (queer) desire: like a cocktail, desire too is a complex flavour of memories, relationships, and sensations, shaped by what we crave and consume.
Following the screening of the film, participants will be invited to complete the dream questionnaire, after which a mixologist will prepare a drink based on the responses they have given.
