27-year-old photographer Tim is on vacation on a remote island with his parents. They are told about the myth of a reincarnated deer that islanders believe is a sign of meeting one’s soulmate – a superstition that arouses Tim’s curiosity.
Director Bio
Born in Jakarta in 1991, Monica Vanesa Tedja is a Chinese-Indonesian filmmaker whose films pose questions around minority identity issues through intimate character work. She pursued a BA in filmmaking at Multimedia Nusantara University and moved to Berlin in 2015 to pursue an MA in Film Directing at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf. Dear to Me (2020) is her thesis film.
