Coming to You (너에게 가는 길)
South Korea, 2021

Directed by
Gyu-ri Byun
Running time
93 mins

Nabi and Vivian’s lives were upended when their respective children came out to them — Nabi’s child Hankyeol as trans, and Vivian’s child Yejoon as gay. Overcoming their initial reservations, the two mothers undergo a profound transformation and join PFLAG (Parents, Families and Allies of LGBTAIQ+ People in Korea) to become committed advocates for queer rights. Tracing protests, first love, and bureaucratic obstacles, Coming to You builds an expansive and evolving portrait of all four individuals as they learn to show up for one another. Equal parts devastating and tender, the film is a testament to enduring allyship that transcends empathy and acceptance to embody a radical solidarity.

Presented in partnership with Spectra, Queer Non-Fiction Films.
