A continuation of Miyagi’s “American Boyfriend” series, which is based on the theme of the “possibility of an Okinawan man and an American man falling in love in Okinawa”. Variations on the theme of (The Ocean View Resort) reflects with hindsight on his identity, his former relationship and his homeland.
Born in 1981 in Okinawa, Futoshi Miyagi is a filmmaker who currently lives and works in Tokyo. His solo exhibitions include “American Boyfriend: Portraits and Banners”（void+, Yutaka Kikutake Gallery, 2022) and ”How Many Nights” (Gallery Koyanagi, Tokyo, 2017). In 2019, he published a collection of novels “Distant” (Kawade-Shobo Shinsha).
