Whispering Ghosts offers a poignant reflection on Thailand’s political turbulence from 2001 to 2006, delving into the hidden layers of trauma that linger beneath the surface of daily life. The film follows a wandering spirit as it enters the dreams of a dying man, whispering and revealing poems and prophecies that mirror Thailand’s collective psyche over past decades. Through the mystic power of illusions, the film unveils the hallucinations experienced by those affected. As the narrative unfolds, viewers are drawn into the fragmented stream of consciousness of a mysterious woman, whose final memories intensify as they fade from the world. Whispering Ghosts provides a glimpse into the visions perceived by the ‘dead’ on their journey into the kingdom of death, shedding light on the ephemeral nature of memory and the enduring impact of political upheaval on the human psyche.
