This omnibus film began as a community project in 2004, and this special screening celebrates its 20th anniversary. Queer Boys and Girls on the Shinkansen brought together a diverse group of eleven people – filmmakers, photographers, manga artists, drag queens, dancers, poets, and art directors – who were each asked to produce a 5-minute short on gay and lesbian themes. The result: a queer film, by queer filmmakers, for a queer audience, incorporating drama, experimental film, and animation. Whether you feel nostalgic about those days, or were just a baby back then, the films take you on a train journey through a landscape of collective memories and shared experience.
